How does your flat-rate pricing work?
Before we touch anything, we diagnose the problem and give you one flat price.
That’s the price you pay and it doesn’t change based on how long the job takes or what time of day it is. No hourly surprises, no invoice that looks different from what we quoted. You approve the price, we do the work. Simple as that.
Do you charge for estimates or coming out to take a look?
Yes $96. We come out, assess the problem, and give you a clear upfront price before starting any work. There’s no charge for the diagnosis if you move forward with the repair. If you decide not to proceed that’s completely fine — we’d rather earn your trust than pressure you into a decision you’re not comfortable with.
Are there extra charges for weekend or after-hours service?
Emergency calls outside normal business hours may carry a different rate — we’ll always be upfront about that before we come out so there are never any surprises on your invoice.
How much does a plumber cost in Lewisburg PA?

How quickly can you come out?
For most jobs in Lewisburg and Union County we offer same-day scheduling. For areas further out in our service radius we can typically get to you within one to two business days.

Do I have to be home for the appointment?

What are your hours?
We’re available Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm, and Saturdays from 8:00am to 4:00pm. For genuine plumbing emergencies outside those hours, call us — we do our best to respond. Sundays are for emergency calls only.

Yes. When we confirm your appointment we’ll tell you who will be coming out. We’ll also send a text or call before arrival.

What happens when a Knauss Plumbing technician arrives at my home?
Your technician will introduce themselves, put on shoe covers before entering, and ask to see the problem. They’ll take time to assess the issue properly — we don’t rush to a diagnosis.
Once they understand what’s going on they’ll explain it to you in plain language, give you an upfront flat-rate price, and answer any questions you have before starting any work. Nothing happens without your approval.
Do you clean up after the job?
Always. We treat your home with respect. That means shoe covers when we enter, protecting surfaces while we work, and leaving the job site cleaner than we found it.
If we open a wall or pull up flooring as part of the repair, we’ll discuss what that process looks like and what to expect before we start. We won’t leave a mess and walk out the door.
What if I'm not satisfied with the work?
We follow up after every job, not as a formality, but because we actually care that you’re happy. If something isn’t right, call us and we’ll come back to make it right at no additional cost.

Yes. We stand behind our work. The specific warranty terms depend on the type of job — parts typically carry the manufacturer’s warranty, and our labor is guaranteed.
We’ll explain the warranty for your specific job before we start so you know exactly what’s covered. If something we repaired fails, call us — we’ll take care of it.

What plumbing services do you offer?
We offer drain cleaning, water heater repair and replacement, leak repair and slab leak detection, whole-home water filtration and softeners, kitchen and bathroom plumbing, fixture installation, and emergency plumbing services.
We focus exclusively on residential plumbing so we can do it exceptionally well rather than spread ourselves too thin.
Do you work on older homes?
Yes. We work on homes of all ages throughout Lewisburg and the surrounding area. Older homes often have cast iron pipes, galvanized steel, or outdated fixtures and we’re experienced with all of it.
If we find something unexpected during a job we’ll stop, show you what we found, and talk through your options before proceeding. No surprises.
Should I repair or replace my water heater?
It depends on the age, the problem, and the cost of the repair. As a general rule — if your water heater is under 8 years old and the repair is straightforward, repair usually makes sense.
If it’s over 10–12 years old or the repair cost is more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is often the smarter investment. We’ll give you an honest recommendation either way — we’re not here to sell you a new water heater you don’t need.
What's the difference between a tank and tankless water heater?
A traditional tank water heater stores and heats a fixed amount of hot water — typically 40–50 gallons. A tankless unit heats water on demand as it flows through, so you never run out but the upfront cost is higher.
Tankless units last longer and are more energy efficient, but they’re not the right choice for every home or every budget. We’ll help you think through which makes more sense for your situation without pushing you toward the more expensive option if it isn’t the right fit.
How do I know if I have a slab leak?
Common signs include an unexplained spike in your water bill, warm or wet spots on your floor, the sound of running water when everything is turned off, or cracks in your baseboards or flooring.
Slab leaks can cause serious structural damage if left untreated. If you notice any of these signs, don’t wait — call us and we’ll come out and assess it using leak detection equipment before recommending any repair.
Do you install new fixtures, faucets, and toilets?
Yes. We handle all types of fixture installation — faucets, toilets, showerheads, garbage disposals, and more. You can supply the fixture yourself or we can source one for you. Either way we’ll make sure it’s installed correctly and everything is working properly before we leave.
Do you offer water testing or water quality assessments?
Yes. Before recommending any water filtration or softening system we assess your water first. We want to recommend what you actually need — not just the most expensive system. If your water is fine we’ll tell you that too.

Yes. We work on kitchen and bathroom remodels doing rough-in plumbing, fixture installations, relocating supply and drain lines, and more.

We’d rather you call and it turns out to be something minor than wait and have a small problem turn into a major one. We won’t make you feel bad for calling.
What should I do while waiting for the plumber to arrive?
If water is actively flowing where it shouldn’t be, shut off the water supply to your home immediately. Your main shutoff valve is usually near your water meter — often in the basement, crawl space, or outside near the foundation. If it’s a water heater issue, switch off the water heater to prevent further damage.
If you smell gas, leave the house immediately and call your gas company before calling us. Once things are stabilized, call us and we’ll walk you through next steps on the phone until we arrive.
Do you respond to emergencies on weekends?
Saturday is a normal business day for us — 8am to 4pm. For genuine emergencies on Sunday or after hours, call us at (570) 568-1851. We do our best to respond.
We won’t promise something we can’t always guarantee, but we won’t leave you stranded if there’s any way we can help. If we truly cannot make it, we’ll try to help you find someone who can.
How do I shut off my water in an emergency?
Every home has a main water shutoff valve — knowing where it is before an emergency happens is one of the most important things a homeowner can do.
In most Lewisburg-area homes it’s located near where the water line enters the house — in the basement, crawl space, utility room, or sometimes outside near the foundation.
Turn it clockwise to shut off the water supply to the entire house. Individual fixtures also have their own shutoff valves underneath sinks and behind toilets. If you’re not sure where yours is, call us and we’ll help you find it.
Water Quality + Water Filtration
How do I know if I have a water quality problem in my Lewisburg home?

Why does my water smell like rotten eggs?
A sulfur or rotten egg smell in your water is almost always caused by hydrogen sulfide gas — a naturally occurring compound that’s especially common in well water in Tennessee.
It’s generally not dangerous at low levels but it’s unpleasant and can indicate other water quality issues worth addressing.
A whole-home filtration system typically resolves it. If you’re on city water and noticing this smell, call us — it could point to a water heater issue or something in your pipes worth having someone look at.
